Custom Gimbal Flight Cases: Faster Deployment for Robotic PTZ Camera Systems

Custom gimbal flight case with suspended robotic camera system ready for live event deployment

Having the right tools for the job is essential in live production. Keeping those tools protected, organised, and instantly deployable is just as important.

At Bubble Production, our robotic camera and PTZ workflows rely heavily on gimbals adapted as precision camera heads. Until recently, however, we were losing 5–10 minutes per unit assembling gimbals on site—valuable time during live event setups where efficiency matters.

That all changed when we partnered once again with Flightcase Warehouse.

The Challenge: Transporting Fully-Rigged Gimbals Safely

On paper, it sounds simple: build a case for a gimbal.

In reality, it’s anything but.

Each unit needed to:

  • Hold a fully-rigged gimbal with camera and lens attached

  • Accommodate an awkward, unbalanced shape

  • Prevent movement or vibration during transport

  • Be ready to deploy instantly, without re-assembly

  • Protect delicate motors, arms, and electronics

This wasn’t about storage—it was about live production speed and reliability.

The Solution: Suspended, Ready-to-Deploy Gimbal Cases

The team at Flightcase Warehouse rose to the challenge with a beautifully engineered solution.

Rather than resting the gimbals in foam, the units are suspended within the case:

  • Mounted temporarily using a single bolt

  • A top plate sits securely into a precision recess

  • The gimbal arms are locked for travel

  • Closed-cell padding lines the case walls for full protection

On the double cases, two flat lift-out panels with integrated hand grips secure each gimbal. Open the lid, lift the panels, and the units come straight out—no tools, no build time.

Simple. Smart. Bulletproof.

Faster Setups, Safer Transport, Happier Crew

We now have:

  • Six gimbals housed in double cases

  • Additional single cases for polecam and specialist deployments

  • Every unit pre-rigged, protected, and road-ready

The impact across last season’s events was massive. Faster installs, less stress on site, and far better protection for some of our most critical camera systems.

Honestly, the only question we keep asking ourselves is: why didn’t we do this sooner?

Thanks to Flightcase Warehouse

Huge thanks to Jase and the team at Flightcase Warehouse for delivering yet another rock-solid solution tailored perfectly to live production realities.

When it comes to custom flight cases for broadcast, live events, and robotic camera systems, they absolutely nailed it—and these cases are now a permanent part of the Bubble Production workflow.
